TEDWomen has just released a powerful talk by Pat Michell “Dangerous times call for dangerous women”, and it is an essential watch for this year.
Pat Mitchell is a serial glass ceiling smasher. The first woman who owned and hosted a nationally syndicated talk show, and the first female president of CNN productions. She has been known as a fearless change-maker and a true advocate for women’s rights. Mitchell is also a co-founder of TEDWomen and has recently presented her own talk on Becoming a Dangerous Woman.
In her recent TED talk, she shared her path to power, from a childhood spent on a cotton farm in the South to her unapologetic rise in media and global affairs. Pat Mitchell’s speech is an inspiring call for women who are ready to smash the barriers they see in their own lives.
“We had been talking about dangerous times and being full of fear and worry, so the concept of dangerous was in the forefront of my mind. When it came to be my turn, I said, “I’m Pat Mitchell. And I am a Dangerous Woman. At this time in my life, I have nothing left to prove less to lose, and I’m ready to take more risks and be less polite.” Once I said it, it felt so right. It feels more right every day.”
“I believe that it’s time for us—women and the men who stand with us…to embrace risks and engage with renewed passion and collective purpose in the truly dangerous work of making the world safer for women and girls.”
