“The number-one predictive element of an individual’s success is the number, the quality, and the depth of social capital – the personal relationships among those that they do business with.” Keith Ferrazzi, CEO of Ferrazzi Greenlight
As the world of business becomes more complex, we can no longer be experts in all of the specialised disciplines our business needs. Despite the fact that business owners of any size must necessarily focus on generating enough cash flow and on getting customers in the door, it is also critically important for them to cultivate and nurture relationships. Here is something to think about…
“Your personality is more important than skills when it comes to strong business relationships.” – John Rampton, Inc.com
Business is 100% relationships. Which is why how you make people feel can have a significant impact on whether they choose to work with you and to be around you.
You’ll spend a lot of time with the people you work with, so why choose someone you can’t stand? I can’t tell you the number of times in meetings when discussions have been made to drop businesses and people because they just didn’t come across well. They seemed to have a chip on their shoulders or had an attitude. I’m not perfect at this but I’ve found that I enjoy meeting people and hearing their stories. I also enjoy being of value to people and being able to connect people. This has helped me focus on them and hopefully make them feel great about themselves whilst in my company. This is the single most important factor to your success. People will support you and put you forward for opportunities when they like you and trust you. Today, pay attention to how you make people feel. (Grisleda Togobo, Forward Ladies)
